Requirements

• Python 3.6+ must be installed on your system (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
• No external libraries are required. The script uses Python’s built-in tkinter library, so it works out of the box.

How to Run

1. Unzip the downloaded file (File-Organizer-Pro-v5.0.zip).
2. Navigate into the Code/ directory.
3. Open a terminal or command prompt in this directory.
4. Run the following command:
   python file_organizer.py
5. The application window will appear.

How to Use

1. Select Target Folder: Click the Browse… button to choose the main folder you want to organize (e.g., your “Downloads” folder).
2. Select Categories: Check the boxes for the file types you want to sort. Use the “Select All” / “Deselect All” buttons for convenience.
   • To customize categories, go to Edit > Manage Categories... in the top menu. Here you can add new categories, edit extensions, or delete existing categories.
3. Set Options:
   • Dry Run: Check this box to run a simulation. The log will show you what would happen, but no files will be moved. This is great for testing your settings.
   • Create subfolders by date: Choose if you want files sorted into subfolders based on their “Date Modified” timestamp.
4. Start Organizing: Click the Start Organizing button to begin the process. You can monitor the progress in the log and with the progress bar.
5. Undo (If Needed): If you are not happy with the result, simply go to File > Undo Last Organization to move all the files back to their original locations.
